Simply put Six helps individuals catalog, tag, and distributes the vital content and conversations that are already happening in your organization. How does it do this? It organizes people and content based on interest and need. Tapping into an individuals knowledge and freeing it from the confines of their inbox and then sharing it with others.
Every knowledge system has a way to organize the relevant data that it is suppose to store. Six approaches this by creating a two level hierarchy that is simple, yet powerful. Groups and Topic Areas. Each department, or project, can be a Group and inside of each Group are the Topics that are most important to that team. Simple? Yes. Powerful? Absolutely. Every piece of content created - be it a question, a comment, an idea, or a document can be cross posted to the relevant topical arenas for easy storage, distribution and retrieval.
Throughout a workers week they will inevitably have questions that they need answers to. For each topical area there will be a listing of subject matter experts, both self identified and community identified that other employees can ask questions to and find contact information for. These questions can be asked in the public arena of the topical area so that all of the experts will be notified and when the question is answered it is then stored for future use. Each topical area will have self identified members and community identified experts.
Once of the hardest things for a company to do is to make sure that the right information finds the right person at the right time. Once content is created other employees can find it one of two ways.
Six makes it easy to subscribe the new content created in topical areas, either through email or an RSS feed.
From the first log in screen it is easy to
see what areas a member is subscribed to. This allows for each person in
the company or team to choose what areas to subscribe to based upon their interest or need.
Six has a powerful search feature that allows you to search based on the type of content, topical area or content author.
